Closing Day

Well, yesterday was quite possibly one of the most exciting days of our lives to date. We closed on our first home! Since I (Ken) was a dork and forgot to carry Cass across the threshold when we got back home from our wedding, we decided on our honeymoon that whenever we had the privilege of buying a house, I'd carry her across that threshold which as you can see, I DID!

So as you can imagine, we spent the rest of the day at the house moving a few extraneous boxes of stuff over and doing a few other things. I installed some new doorknobs and dead bolt locks. We also worked a little bit on the backyard which is super covered in leaves. We've got so more work to do on the backyard, though. The grass has got to be around a foot tall in some areas of the lawn! :-/ Yikes! The house has been vacant for a little while now, we're guessing since sometime last summer or fall, so naturally the yard is in need of some cleanup. I'll probably be mowing the lawn today and raking more leaves, but we're also going to be tearing down some wallpaper getting the walls ready for a fresh coat of paint! What fun!
